About UFO History Files
A plain-English guide to the history, evidence, and government records behind UFO and UAP reports.
UFO History Files was built for one simple reason: most of the information about UFOs and UAPs online is either wild speculation or dense government paperwork. We wanted a middle ground, a place where you can read a clear, well-organized explanation of a topic, whether that's an ancient Roman sky record or a modern government office like AARO, without wading through either extreme.
What We Cover
Our articles fall into four general areas: the history of sightings across the centuries, how governments investigate and classify these reports today, real documented sighting cases and the evidence behind them, and honest fact-checks of popular historical claims and legends. Every article on this site links out to other related articles, so you can follow a topic as deep as you'd like.
Our Approach
We try to separate three different things that often get blended together online: verified historical documents, folklore and legend, and modern government data. When a claim is disputed or unverified, we say so directly rather than presenting it as settled fact. Where possible, we link out to official government sources, like the National Archives, AARO, and the National UFO Reporting Center, so you can check the primary material yourself.
Who Runs This Site
UFO History Files is an independently run publication focused on historical and factual research writing. We are not affiliated with any government agency, military branch, or official investigation body. You can reach our editorial team through our contact page.
